The Mozambican Association of Safari Operators (AMOS), in coordination with the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC) and the Foundation for Biodiversity Conservation (BIOFUND), is organizing the Conference on Sustainable Wildlife Economy in Mozambique, which will take place at Indy Village in Maputo on April 8 and 9, 2026, under the theme “Toward the development of a sustainable wildlife economy in Mozambique.”
This event, organized as part of the Coastal Livelihoods and Climate Resilience (CLCR) Project, funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), will bring together approximately 150 participants from the government, the private sector, academia, local communities, civil society, and international partners. The goal is to discuss strategies that boost the wildlife economy, promoting biodiversity conservation as a driver of inclusive and sustainable economic development.
The conference will feature plenary sessions and thematic panels on the current state of the wildlife economy, investments in key sectors such as ecotourism, hunting, fishing, and carbon trading, the sharing of international experiences and best practices, as well as the design of strategic follow-up actions to strengthen this sector, which is vital to the national economy and the socioeconomic development of local communities.
This is a unique opportunity to strengthen partnerships, promote knowledge sharing, and encourage the involvement of public and private investors in the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources and the maximization of the wildlife-based economy.
